  • Yes! Open Arms can tailor personalized instruction for your needs in private sessions. Please contact us for more information.

  • Open Arms classes are designed to enhance the skills of students at all levels. If you feel that personalized training might be right for you, Open Arms offers private instruction as well.

  • Yes. Range fees are included in student tuition. In some cases, the local range may require students to sign waivers to participate.

  • For all classes, students should wear comfortable, weather-appropriate or athletic clothing and closed toe shoes. Students should have the following equipment for the class:
    - Eye and ear protection (electronic ear protection is recommended if you have difficulty hearing)
    - Pistol with at least three magazines
    - Two magazine pouches on the support side
    - Wear a belt with your holster in place on the strongside of your body
    - Ammunition (rounds defined in class description)

About Your Instructor
Adam Metcalf

Adam Metcalf founded Open Arms in 2019.  Adam is an Air Force veteran and who then spent his career in Federal law enforcement. He has competed in International Defensive Pistol Association and United States Practical Shooting Association competitions since the 1990s.  As a Match Director in Virginia at the Fairfax Rod and Gun Club’s monthly competition from 2016 to 2018, Adam and his partners grew the monthly attendance from 30 shooters to over 100 and doubled the percentage of women shooters. He is a graduate of shooting and instructor classes from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, Defense Tactics Institute, 10-8 Performance, Green Ops, Glock, Colt and the Sig Sauer Academy.
